  1. For Idli batter grind separately soak dal and rice.Then mix it well with salt.let them ferment for 10 to 12 hrs.
  2. In the steamer boil water.Put the batter in greased plates.Steam for 10 min
  3. For chutney.grind coconut, Green chillies,salt, roasted udad dal,ginger,onion and lemon juice.
  4. For tempering add oil, mustard seeds and curry leaves.Put on chutney
  5. Serve Idli with chutney

Whenever we go to Murugan idli kadai, the thengai chutney bucket will be kept of the table, so that the waiter will not have too many visits to my table. Somehow i am not a big fan of my mom's thengai chutney, she add little tamarind to that. Our neighbour aunty makes the coconut chutney very well. We are a typical South Indian "idli-dosa" for breakfast family. I make this chutney at-least twice a week.
