Grease a wide vessel which you're going to make the kalmi vadas in. Heat water in a bigger vessel for steaming. Steps to make Kalmi vada:
  1. First of all this chanadaal and moong daal is soaked into water upto four hours, than grind it separately and mix well in a bowl.
  2. Then add some water, black pepper, salt, chopped coriander leaves, baking soda and mix again.
  3. After then add jeera, red chilli powder, then again mix well.
  4. After then put deep kadhai on gas stove, at medium low flame pour oil, when heated, start to make round shape vada, cook and fry at both sides, then keep out. In this way we will fry all vadas.
  5. After 45 minutes of frying, we will cut all vadas into long shape and double fry it, so in this middle portion of vada is also crispy and cook. Serve this with sauce and chutney.
